HeckmanAbout Brad: Brad Heckman is CEO of New York Peace Institute, one of the nation's largest mediation services. He is also an Adjunct Professor at New York University, where he received the Excellence in Teaching Award.  He served on the boards of the National Association for Community Mediation, the New York State Dispute Resolution Association, and the NYC Peace Museum. Brad has trained labor unions, the NYPD, NASA, United Nations programs, and community organizations worldwide. His interest in peaceful dialogue began as university lecturer Poland in 1989, witnessing the country’s transition to democracy. Brad served as Vice President of Safe Horizon, a leading victims services agency. He was also International Director of Partners for Democratic Change, where he helped introduce mediation to Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the former Soviet Union and beyond. Brad received a Master of Arts in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. Recently, Brad was the keynote speaker at the International Organizations Career Development Roundtable (CDR) in Helsinki, Finland.

Brad's floorBrad is committed to helping individuals develop their skills by integrating exercises throughout the training that build muscle memory. His presentation style is very engaging and visual as he incorporates sketches into his trainings. He has a large gallery of sketches that he pulls from - to the right is a picture of his floor with his some of his sketches that he uses during trainings.   

In addition to his training sketches, Brad has been creating sketches of individuals that includes a quote from that person, what he calls sketchquotes. His blog is a great place to see many of them in one location. He does each sketch as a black and white, and in color.
